The Campus Internet Security and Web Content Filtering Service has been launched on 13/04/2007 to better protect campus computers and to prevent user information leakages due to the access to spywares, adwares, phishing, and viruses’ prone web sites. From the statistics taken in the last three weeks (April 15 – May 5), the campus web filter system has successfully blocked 28,337 access attempts to security risk websites which involved 78 students and 61 staff computers. 17 of the staff computers were suspected to be infected with spywares and required clean-up actions. All students’ accessible computers are protected by protection cards; hence viruses and malicious code will be removed after rebooting the computers.

Follow up Tasks
1. All staff computers infected with spyware will be cleaned by CSC staff, and we strongly recommend affected users to change their NetID passwords and other online passwords, credit card account number, etc. in order to protect possible leakages of sensitive personal information from the infection. Further information is available at: http://csc.ipm.edu.mo/websecurity/
2. Staff and students are reminded not to download and/or install programmes from the Internet on campus computers.
