Windows Active Directory (AD) File and Print Service
Microsoft Active Directory (AD) is deployed in all PCs in classrooms, computer labs and academic units in MPI.  Here you will find information about Windows AD services and features:
Domain Logon

Login & Password

. There is only one Windows available in the boot-up menu.
. The NetID is as same as your Email username.
. The initial password is:

Staff: Your birthday (e.g. 19730328)

Student: The Macau Identification Card (BIR) or Password Number without '-' or '/'.

. The default domain name is "MPI", please do not change it.
. You may be prompted to change password after the first logon. You can also change your password anytime online at: https://csc.ipm.edu.mo/info/change_pwd.asp
Please note that the new password will be applied to Windows AD, Email, Webmail and several other systems.

Changing Language Preferences

You may change your language preference (do it once only). Just follow the steps below.
  1. Save your documents and close all applications
  2. Double click the blue icon “Switch to English Windows” on the desktop; the system will then log you off automatically
  3. Double click the red icon “Switch to Chinese Windows” on the desktop; the system will then log you off automatically
  4. Log in again using NetID/Password and the Windows interface will be changed to your preferred language accordingly.

Roaming Profile

A roaming profile saves your preferences and browser favorites giving you consistent look and feel as you move from one computer to another. Roaming profile will be applied to all CSC provided public workstations including all PCs in the classrooms and labs.  Roaming profile will not be applied to office computers.

A roaming profile quota of 30MB per person is allocated on Windows-based machines in all classrooms and computer labs. This quota will not be increased.

Folder Redirection

Redirected Folders are used to ‘move’ a users ‘My Documents’ folder and their desktop to a networked server, rather than keeping them located on their workstation. This means that the data is backed up whenever the server is rather than risking data on an un-backed up local C: drive, and also means that user’s data is available from whichever workstation they choose to use, including CSC provided public workstations.

Three separated data areas will be redirected. These are:

  • . My Documents
  • . Desktop

Folder redirections will be applied to students.

Network Drives and Quota Limits

After the login validation, one or more network drives will be mapped automatically as below:
